The Wolves attacker has been in tremendous form at the start of the new season.

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil spoke out on the future of the in-form Pedro Neto on Monday Night Football earlier this week.

Neto, 23, has been on a hot streak at the start of the new campaign under O’Neil, leading the Premier League assist charts and showing that he is back to his best after a tough spell with injuries.

He provided another assist during their win over Bournemouth at the weekend, as he teed up Matheus Cunha for their equaliser taking him to six assists in nine games - he’s also netted once during that time as well.

Of course, there have been links with him moving to Liverpool to potentially replace Mohamed Salah one day (as previously reported here). He too is a tricky, quick and direct left-footed right-winger and he is someone that could make the move to a bigger club in the future.

Journalist Neil Jones claimed “I know that Neto has admirers at Anfield” earlier this month but O’Neil, speaking on Monday Night Football, explained that the Wolves attacker is happy at the club right now.

“He’s incredibly happy at Wolves,” said the Molineux boss, who was once on the coaching staff at Liverpool. “He’s enjoying his football and he’s rediscovered some good form.

“He has had a tough couple of years with some bad injuries and form, and he’s now performing at his best. He’s incredibly settled, happy at the club, and we are going to try and help him achieve some big things whilst he is here.”

His original breakout season was during the 2020/21 campaign behind closed doors as a 20-year-old. That saw him produce five goals and six assists in 31 games as he earned his full international debut during the early part of that season.

But, a horrible knee injury suffered in April 2021 kept him out for nearly 300 days and it took him some time to adjust last season before returning to the form we’re all seeing now.

With Saudi Arabia likely to target Mo Salah again whenever they get the chance next summer, Neto is certainly a ready-made Premier League-proven replacement who could step up to that right wing role. Replacing such a legend is never going to be easy, but Neto is certainly one to watch until then.
