The Spain international was due to start in midfielder against Chelsea at Wembley.

But Thiago picked up an injury in the warm-up and was not deemed fit enough to feature.

Naby Keita came in for Thiago in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Thiago was spotted in tears moments before kick-off and was consoled by Alisson Becker.

A tweet from Liverpool’s official account said: “Thiago has got injured during the warm-up. Naby Keita starts for the Reds instead.”
