Thiago Alcantara was originally named in Liverpool’s starting line-up against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Thiago Alcantara was reduced to tears on the Liverpool bench after being forced to pull out of the Carabao Cup final.

The Spain international was due to start in midfielder against Chelsea at Wembley.

But Thiago picked up an injury in the warm-up and was not deemed fit enough to feature.

Naby Keita came in for Thiago in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Thiago was spotted in tears moments before kick-off and was consoled by Alisson Becker.

A tweet from Liverpool’s official account said: “Thiago has got injured during the warm-up. Naby Keita starts for the Reds instead.”
