Jurgen Klopp’s men head into the encounter on the back of a 3-2 win at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, while United beat Atalanta by the same scoreline.

Here’s all the key info you need to know heading into the encounter.

What’s the injury news

Liverpool will again be without Thiago Alcantara, who remains absent with a calf problem.

However, the Reds could welcome back Curtis Jones back into the squad.

The midfielder has missed the past two games after returning from England under-21 duty with a knock.

Harvey Elliott continues his comeback from a long-term ankle injury.

Could a surprise be sprung?

Klopp has a decision to make in central midfield.

Fabinho will return to the starting line-up after coming off the bench at half-time against Atletico. He will likely join Jordan Henderson in the engine room.

James Milner and Naby Keita both started in Spain but the latter was the man withdrawn for Fabinho.

Milner, meanwhile, may not be able to manage a third game in eight days aged 35.

Jones could make an immediate return or Klopp might be tempted to start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who impressed off the bench against Atletico.

What about United?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has several problems on his hands.

Summer signing Raphael Varane has a groin problem and won’t be back fit until next month.

Fred suffered a hamstring problem against Atalanta and is unlikely to be involved.
