A quiet transfer deadline day has been expected at Liverpool for some time.

By Jurgen Klopp’s own admission, not too much will be happening in terms of incomings before 23.00 BST tonight.

The Reds have secured a signing of sorts by tying down the future of Jordan Henderson. The captain becomes the seventh player to pen a new deal this summer.

But in terms of new faces, Ibrahima Konate is looking likely to be Liverpool’s only signing of the window.

Still, there could still be a couple of outgoings before tonight’s cut-off point, with one youngster expected to depart.

We round up all of the rumours that are coming out of the red half of Merseyside.

The centre-back, 20, filled in brilliantly during Liverpool’s defensive crisis last season.

Despite being a rookie defender, he made 19 appearances in all competitions and helped the Reds finish third in the Premier League.

However, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all returning to full fitness, Williams has dropped down the pecking order.

The Reds are keen for the academy product to continue his promising progress away from Anfield and keep playing regular senior football. (Daily Mail)

Liverpool will have to seriously consider granting Divock Origi a deadline day exit.

The striker has been omitted from the past two match-day squads and been reduced to a bit-part role at Anfield.

Origi has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and the Reds would only entertain a permanent move rather than a loan deal.

But with Xherdan Shaqiri departing for Lyon last week, it could mean that the Belgian is kept at Liverpool for cover. (Sky Sports).

The centre-back deputised admirably for the Reds last season during a defensive crisis.

But Phillips finds himself back down the pecking order and has been left out of the Klopp’s squad for the opening three matches of the season.

Liverpool value the 24-year-old at £12 million and don’t want to loan him out.

If no suitable bid is lodged then they will reassess in January.

Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Yet it wouldn’t be until next summer, rather than deadline day, until Liverpool make a move.

Brozovic is out of contract at the San Siro at the end of the season, meaning the Reds could snap him up on a free transfer in 2022.

Liverpool are permitted to sign the Croatia international on a pre-contract in January. (Inter Live)

Teenage midfielder Jake Cain is closing in on a loan move to Newport County.

The 19-year-old has made one appearance for the Reds in the FA Cup and trained with Klopp’s team during the summer.

Cain has been a regular for the under-23s and is now set to get his first taste of senior football at the Welsh outfit.

Newport reached the League Two play-off final last season and will again have designs on promotion. (The Athletic)
