Despite being a rookie defender, he made 19 appearances in all competitions and helped the Reds finish third in the Premier League.

Hide AdOrigi could stay
Liverpool will have to seriously consider granting Divock Origi a deadline day exit.
The striker has been omitted from the past two match-day squads and been reduced to a bit-part role at Anfield.
Origi has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and the Reds would only entertain a permanent move rather than a loan deal.
But with Xherdan Shaqiri departing for Lyon last week, it could mean that the Belgian is kept at Liverpool for cover. (Sky Sports).

But Phillips finds himself back down the pecking order and has been left out of the Klopp’s squad for the opening three matches of the season.

If no suitable bid is lodged then they will reassess in January.

Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
Yet it wouldn’t be until next summer, rather than deadline day, until Liverpool make a move.
Brozovic is out of contract at the San Siro at the end of the season, meaning the Reds could snap him up on a free transfer in 2022.
