Diogo Jota was taken off at half-time in Liverpool’s victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp revealed that Diogo Jota suffered an ankle injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.

The striker was substituted at half-time at the San Siro when the game was goalless.

Jota was replaced by Roberto Firmino - who opened the scoring for the Reds in the 75th minute.

Mo Salah then added a second with seven minutes remaining as Liverpool put themselves in the driving seat to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Klopp is hopeful that Jota’s problem isn’t too bad ahead of Norwich City’s visit to Anfield this Saturday.

Speaking to BT Sport, Klopp said: “Diogo had to go off with something around the ankle ligament. We will see.

“We don’t know exactly. He could play on, that’s usually a good sign but, at half-time, the ankle was swollen so we had to change.”

Jota did not start last Sunday’s 1-0 win at Burnley because of a dead leg.
