Everton fans will be relishing the international break being over.

Following an impressive start to the Premier League season, with the Toffees delivering two wins and a draw, the momentum was curtailed through no fault of their own.

With the latest 2022 World Cup qualifiers now complete, though, Rafa Benitez’s squad will reassemble for Burnley’s visit to Goodison Park on Monday (19.45 BST).

But how gruelling was the international break for Everton and their players? We take a look.

How Everton’s players fared in the latest games

Jordan Pickford returned in goal for England and was denied an eighth clean sheet in his past 10 international games. Poland’s last-minute equaliser meant the Three Lions had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

It was the first time Gareth Southgate’s side dropped points in Group I, although they’re still top with 16 points.

Lucas Digne was demoted to the bench after playing in France’s previous two matches. The World Cup holders recorded a 2-0 win over Finland and sit at the summit of Group D.

Meanwhile, Jarrad Branthwaite was given a 16-minute substitute cameo in England under 2-0s’ 6-1 thrashing of Romania on Monday,

Were any further injuries picked up?

No. Alex Iwobi was released from the Nigeria squad for their win in Cape Verde as it is on the UK’s Covid-19 travel red list. The likes of Leicester pair Kelechi Iheanacho  and Wilfred Ndidi were also not involved.

It means that Seamus Coleman is the only casualty sustained during the break.

Everton’s captain suffered a hamstring injury in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Azerbaijan, missing their 1-1 stalemate with Serbia on Tuesday.

The severity of Coleman’s setback is still unclear.

Jarrad Branthwaite: one match played, 17 minutes totalled.

Seamus Coleman: two matches played, 180 minutes totalled.

Lucas Digne: two matches played, 180 minutes totalled.

Alex Iwobi: one match played, 86 minutes totalled.

Jordan Pickford: two matches played, 180 minutes totalled.

When will the internationals return?

Branthwaite, Coleman and Iwobi will already be back on Merseyside.

Digne and Pickford are likely to travel back today ahead of Burnley’s visit to Goodison on Monday (19.45 BST).
