And, as Children in Need airs again tonight, the aim is to make that figure even lower. The figures were provided from the Children in Need census.
Children in Need airs tonight on BBC at 7pm, or, alternatively you can stream Children in Need on the BBC Iplayer, on a multitude of devices from 7pm.
Guest appearances from musician Ed Sheeran, comedian Chris Ramsey, the cast of our beloved soaps, Alex Scott and more, it’s an evening of quality television you will not want to miss.

Merseyside has always had a good affiliation with the show. Back in 2019, a Premier League match between Everton and West Ham at Goodison Park heavily featured Children in Need.
The match officials and players all wore tops, in support of the show, whilst the Premier League Man of the Match trophy was a special edition yellow one, with Pudsey the bear’s face on it.
This year Woolton Primary School in Liverpool is having a school-wide dress down down.

And, also featuring on the school’s Twitter account are three year six students, all dressed in their own clothes, holding a miniature Pudsey the bear cuddly toy.
