We ask the people of Liverpool: Should kids aged 5-11 be given the COVID vaccine?

All children aged 5-11 in the UK will be offered the coronavirus vaccine.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation say although this age group is generally at very low risk of serious illness from the virus, a very small number of children who get infected do develop severe disease.

We hit the streets to ask the people of Liverpool their thoughts on COVID vaccines for children

‘It's up to the parents’

Francesca says: "It's up to the parents and doctors to make that decision. If I had a young child, I would have my child vaccinated. Anything to protect your children against any illnesses."

‘Everyone should have their own choice’

Oliver says: "Realistically everyone should have their own choice whether they want to take it or not."

‘My nephew's had the vaccine’

Nicola says: "My nephew's had it; he's fine. He's actually had COVID himself. He's had one jab, and he had absolutely no side-effects from it."
