An Amber weather warning for wind, with gusts predicted to reach up to 67mph, and a yellow weather warning for ice are now in place across Merseyside.

Transport problems
At Lime Street, London Road to St George’s Place has been closed because barriers from ongoing redevelopment works have been blown into the road.
It is hoped the affected areas will re-open at 6pm on Friday night.
Merseytravel are diverting buses and people are being asked to avoid the area possible.

Mersey Ferries services have been suspended from Friday, 18 February, until further notice due to the strong winds.
Merseyrail say they expect disruption to services and have advised passengers not to travel unless necessary. It is unlikely rail replacement buses will be able to operate.
They also warn that some of the first timetabled trains on Saturday, 19 February, will be cancelled to allow checks on the lines.

Meanwhile, Merseyside Police have issued a warning to the public about staying safe and have advised against non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Flooding may affect coastal areas, particularly in Wirral and Sefton, with high tides expected around noon.
Councils across the borough have closed some roads and parks in areas expected to be affected by fallen trees, debris and flooding.
Some half-term events have also been cancelled due to fears for people travelling to and from the venues.

The police have warned those making any essential journey to drive carefully and give vulnerable road users including cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians more room than usual as they are more likely to be blown around by side winds.
Those using public transport are advised to check for any disruption before they travel.
