Liverpool is hosting Eurovision 2023 on behalf of this year’s winners Ukraine.

Ukraine will be selecting their entry for Eurovision 202 from a bomb shelter in Kyiv, as the war with Russia continues.

The final of Vidbir, Ukraine’s national selection competition, will take place on Saturday December 17 at a non disclosed location in the capital, and will be broadcasted live.

Ukraine’s national broadcaster UA:PBC has received almost 400 songs from 299 participants, all hoping for another victory.

The UK is hosting the contest in Liverpool next year, after the European Broadcasting Union ruled Ukraine could not safely organise the event due to the ongoing Russian invasion.

Ukraine’s Kalusch Orchestra were this year’s winners and Sam Ryder placed second for the UK with his hit, Spaceman.

Two semi-finals will take place in Liverpool on May 9 and May 11, before the Eurovision grand final on Saturday May 13.
