Classic Car Show to return to St Helens town centre
Gear up for a turbo weekend as the annual St Helens Classic Car Show returns to St Helens town centre this September.
Organised by St Helens Borough Council and the St Helens Classic Car Association, the free event will see a number of memorable motors from years gone by line-up in Church Square, with awards handed out for best vehicle.
The St Helens Classic Car Show is the latest attraction to come to St Helens town centre over the summer as part of an action-packed programme which has already seen several successful events held in Church Square, including a Peppa Pig visit; Dino Day; a circus – as well as a princess and superhero day – all put on by the council to help support the local economy recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, also taking place in St Helens town centre that day is Citadel Arts' free’ ‘In The Street’ family festival.
Featuring some of the UK’s best children’s and family shows, organisers are promising the day will be an experience you’ll never forget.
Encouraging residents to attend, Councillor Anthony Burns Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Culture and Heritage - with responsibility for events - said: “The St Helens Classic Car Show is always a great occasion, with an array of eye-catching cars, motorbikes and other types of vintage vehicles lining up in Church Square to have a peek at – so to have ‘In The Street’ also happening that day means double the fun.
“If the turnout is anything near like the ones we’ve had for our other events over the summer, it’s sure to be a fantastic day and one all the family can enjoy.
“While visiting town for this event, be sure to lend your support to the many fantastic independent businesses we have here, from retail to hospitality, and remember that covid hasn’t gone away, so please do everything that’s necessary to keep yourself and others safe.”
In The Street will take place in Church Street between 10am-4:30pm on Saturday, September 4, while St Helens Classic Car Show will get underway at 11am, finishing at 4pm.
