PAUL Wellens is on the verge of signing a new one year deal.
The Saints skipper is out of contract at the end of the seaso, but he has been in superb form for his home-town club.
It is believed in-coming coach Nathan Brown wants to keep the 32-year-old as his club captain.
“I think something will be announced pretty soon,” he said.
“A year is a sensible option, not just for the club but for myself as well.
“Form, fitness and injuries will all dictate how long I play.
“I’m pleased with the way I’m going and I’m loving captaining the club.”
