Alex Walmsley is almost certainly ruled out of the Saints’ side for Friday night’s showdown with Leeds Rhinos at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

The England prop forward is scheduled to have a scan on a neck and shoulder injury he picked up in last week’s 30-12 win at Warrington but head coach Justin Holbrook is resigned to taking on the Super League champions without the 27-year-old powerhouse forward, who put pen to paper on a new four year deal last month.

Holbrook said: “It’s not looking good. His injury is still really sore and he has shown no improvement since he was substituted against Warrington.”

However, fellow forward Jon Wilkin will be back in contention after missing the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium due to concussion suffered against Salford Red Devils.
