No Australian club has contacted head coach Justin Holbrook inquiring about the availability of Golden Boot winner Tommy Makinson.

Speculation emerging from Down Under yesterday (Monday) suggested that the flying wingman, who was one of the outstanding players in England's 2-1 victory over New Zealand in the recent Test series, was a target for Newcastle Knights - coached by ex-St Helens boss Nathan Brown.

Holbrook said: ''I haven't seen the stories but no one has come knocking on my door from the NRL concerning Tommy.

''I know he has been on holiday Down Under but I am expecting him to return to training next week like the rest of our England players.''

Neither has Holbrook been surprised by the performances of the 27-year-old in an international shirt.

He said: '"Tommy's profile has rocked in recent weeks and well deserved. People didn't know a lot about him but we did and understood what a fantastic player he is.

''The recognition he is now receiving is a reward for all his hard work and dedication at club level."

Club captain James Roby, who was forced to pull out of the international series through injury, has undergone shoulder surgery but is now back in full training.
