Natty Smith has rejected the chance of playing further games with Sheffield Eagles on dual registration.

The St Helens scrum half has only featured in seven Super League fixtures for his home-town club in 2018 and made one appearance for the Eagles but has told head coach Justin Holbrook that he prefers to stay at the Total Wicked Stadium and maintain his fitness level as high as possible.

He will obviously be available for selection if Saints are suddenly hit by a run of injuries but his future at the club, where his contract runs until the end of 2019, is in the melting pot.

Theo Fages had a smile on his face almost as wide as the River Mersey when he reported for training on Monday.

The French international was on cloud nine as he celebrated his country’s 4-2 World Cup victory over Croatia in Russia.

Team mate Luke Thompson said: “Theo arrived draped in the French flag and cap and his joy was there for all the lads to see.”
