JAMES Roby and young team-mate Josh Jones have been shortlisted for two of the top individual accolades in Super League.
Past winner Roby has been included in a shortlist of three for the coveted Stobart Man of Steel award, which also includes full-back Sam Tomkins of Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves’ second-rower Ben Westwood.
Jones is in contention for the Young Player of the Year prize, but he faces stiff competition from Bradford Bulls’ second-rower John Bateman and full-back Zak Hardaker of Leeds Rhinos.
Hooker Roby, who lifted the title in 2007 and was one of three nominees last season, has been in imperious form this year.
He topped the statistical charts in many areas and missed just two Saints’ matches this year.
Jones made his Super League debut at Warrington in March, and has hardly looked back since, scoring 12 tries in 19 appearances.
The Man of Steel – chosen from a secret ballot among the players – will be revealed at a special gala dinner in Manchester on Monday night along with a number of other prestigious awards, including Coach of the Year.
