More than a dozen young Rugby League players with St Helens links have been included in the new national performance programme aimed at U16s and U18s boys and women.
They will all come under the watchful eye of former Saints and Warrington half back Lee Briers, who is now head coach of the England Academy set up.
The aim is to give a more focused look at identifying talent, player skill development physical competence and the creation of a performance coaching environment below elite level.
U16s: Jack Welsby and Matthew Foster (St Helens/Blackbrook), Joshua Simm (St Helens/Thatto Heath Crusaders), Max Roberts and Ryan Forshaw(Wigan Warriors/Blackbrook).
U18s: Brad Pinder, Jordan Olmez and Kevin Brown (all St Helens).
Women: Dani Bound, Emily Rudge, Faye Gaskin, Jenny Welsby, Jodie Cunningham, Tara Stanley (all Thatto Heath).
The programme will run at national training centres between February and October each year.
