Keiron Cunningham has confirmed that Saints have opened negotiations with Luke Walsh in a bid to convince the Aussie half-back to sign up with a third season with the club.
Walsh joined Saints from Penrith Panthers ahead of the 2014 season and is out of contract at the end of the year.
“We’ve talked to his manager regarding staying at the club,” Cunningham said. “He’s a good player who does a lot for the team.”
This is reflected in the fact that the 28-year-old has currently the longest scoring streak in the game, having registered points in St Helens’ last 24 matches.
His prolific scoring began with five goals and a field goal in a 35-34 home win against Huddersfield on 10 July, 2015.
Walsh last failed to score in Saints’ 46-18 defeat at Leeds on July 3, 2015.
