Saints’ red and white army will be out in force on Friday night when they renew Super League rivalry with neighbours Leigh Centurions for the first time since 2005.

Supporters had snapped up all spots in the south stand at Leigh Sports Village earlier in the week and have been filling the east stand since.

The club is anticipating a following of around the 3,000 mark - and head coach Keiron Cunningham is expecting a red-hot atmosphere in the stadium.

Cunningham said: “It’s going to be a tough and difficult game for us.

“We are just down the road and even though Leigh and St Helens always seem to get on, I’m expecting a fiery atmosphere inside the ground.

Leigh boss Neil Jukes said: “It’s a good challenge for us, playing against a top end, top four Super League team. They ground out a good win against Leeds in their previous outing and will be tough opposition.”

Jukes added: “We’re excited about the match and the occasion and have got to make sure we find consistency and improvement. Last week was not the end product by any means.

“There will be a great atmosphere from both sets of fans and I’m sure the Saints supporters will have been really looking forward to the game and coming here to watch their team at LSV for the first time. They are on our doorstep and it will be something to savour for everyone.”

There are no cash turnstiles at Leigh - any remaining tickets are from the Leigh ticket office on game day only - but buying from the Totally Wicked Stadium in advance means Saints will benefit directly from the sales.
