Tommy Makinson returns to Saints' squad to face Leigh

Winger Tommy Makinson, who missed the trip to Huddersfield last week with a minor foot injury, is back in the Saints' 21-man squad for Friday's short trip down the East Lancs Road to Leigh Centurions and replaces Joel Thompson - the Aussie suffering from a foot injury of his own.

But head coach Kristian Woolf made it clear that Makinson will only make the final 17 if 100 per cent fit and a decision will be made later this week.

The other change sees young Ben Davies come in for Tom Nisbet.

The game is live on on Our League for 2021 members with kick off at 6pm.

Squad: 1, Lachlan Coote, 2, Tommy Makinson, 3. Kevin Naiqama, 4, Mark Percival, 5. Regan Grace, 6. Jonny Lomax, 7. Theo Fages, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 12, James Bentley, 14. Sione Mata’utia, 15. LMS, 16. Kyle Amor, 17, Agnatius Paasi, 18. Jack Welsby, 19, Aaron Smith, 20, Joe Batchelor, 21. Lewis Dodd, 23. Jake Wingfield, 25. Dan Norman, 29. Ben Davies.

Cumbrian Kyle Amor needs one appearance to reach 250 in Super League - 172 for St Helens (2014-2021), 74 for Wakefield Trinity (2011-2013) and three at Leeds Rhinos (2010).

The 33-year-old prop forward will hopefully reach the milestone if, as seems likely, makes the final 17-man squad for Friday's game at Leigh.

Amor, who is under contract at Saints until the end of the current season, is on record as saying:'' My role has changed over the last couple of years and as long as I'm contributing and keep getting selected, I'm more than happy.

''It is a special time at the club with a lot of the young lads putting pen to paper and we are clearly building for the future - something I want to be involved in.

''Part of my role is to help these young lads coming through the ranks and to ensure that whatever happens is the best result for the club.''
