New season countdown: Saints have fully fit squad to face Salford challenge
Champions St Helens look likely to have a fully fit squad available for Friday's opening Betfred Super League clash against Salford Red Devils at Emerald Headingley.
Like his counterpart and former no.2, Richard Marshall, head coach Kristian Woolf has confirmed he has no serious injuries to worry about and the main headache will revolve around who to leave out.
Lachlan Coote, Regan Grace, Matty Lees and Morgan Knowles were all absent from the pre-season friendly home defeat against Leigh Centurions which also marked the start of winger Tommy Makinson's benefit year but were only suffering from minor knocks.
Skipper James Roby also suffered an HIA injury and new boy Agnatius Paasi picked up an ankle knock and both were withdrawn from the action but Woolf insisted they will be raring to go by Friday.
He said: ''I am expecting everyone will be available for selection but there are a few we will have to keep an eye on.
''If some are suffering from niggles, or anything similar, then they will not be risked. It isn't a smart move to select a player in round one who has a niggling injury because then he could be carrying it all season.''
Marshall, too, is expecting to have a strong-looking line-up, including former Saint Matty Costello.
He said: "We know it will be a tough task but it is a challenge we are going to relish.
''Facing the reigning champions is really exciting and we can't wait."
