Morgan Knowles returns to St Helens squad for Giants cup tie

Packman Morgan Knowles is back in Saints' 21-man squad for the first time this season ahead of Friday's Betfred Challenge Cup quarter final tie against Huddersfield Giants at Emerald Headingley.

Knowles has now recovered from a broken thumb which required close season surgery and returned to training at the end of last month.

He comes in for Jake Wingfield who picked up a shoulder injury in the win over Leigh and drops out.

Joel Thompson, too, is back in the fold after suffering a foot injury and comes in for James Bentley, who is out for the foreseeable future after breaking his leg,

Tommy Makinson is also included once more following injury and is expected to make the final 17.

Matty Lees is the other long-term absentee after he recently underwent surgery on an ankle injury picked up against Leeds Rhinos in the last round of the Challenge Cup.

Watson remains without Ashton Golding, who continues to recover from a shoulder injury, and the Wardle brothers, Jake and Joe.
