'Everyone to get a good hit out' as Saints return to action in Leigh friendly

Saints will be using Tommy Makinson's testimonial match against Betfred Super League rivals Leigh Centurions at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 6pm) as a further stepping stone towards full fitness in preparation for the 2021 campaign.

Head coach Kristian Woolf said: ''At this moment in time, I have got a fully fit squad to choose from with Tommy's testimonial doubling up as our trial game, so we’ve got to make sure everyone gets a good hit-out.

“Hopefully, we come through that with nothing more than bumps and bruises as we head into round one against Salford on March 26.”

Assistant coach Paul Wellens, who until 2015 played in the same team as Makinson, said: ''We are all pretty excited about the Leigh match, particularly Tommy.

''I'm now privileged to be one of his coaches and also had the opportunity to play alongside him. He's a first class bloke and first class player and we will want to put in a performance he deserves.''

The only way to watch the match is via the RFL Our League platform where it will be live streamed at a cost of £5 in advance, rising to £6.99 on the day.
