A late start to NRL season for former Saint Luke Thompson
Former Saints' prop Luke Thompson will be kicking his heels in frustration as the NRL season gets under way in Australia.
The England international will miss the Canterbury Bulldogs trial match against Cronulla Sharks tomorrow (Saturday) and four league matches after being banned late last season for eye gouging Penrith skipper James Tamou.
Thompson, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, said at the time: ''It was never my intention to eye-gouge, or whatever they accused me of doing.
"I was just trying to win the tackle – take him to the ground. So I'm a bit confused and disappointed."
