Quarter final exit for Dave Chisnall at UK championships
Dave Chisnall's dreams of winning his first major TV title were shattered yesterday afternoon (Sunday) as he bowed out of the Ladbrokes UK Darts Championship at the quarter final stage to Newbury's Luke Humphries.
The local lad couldn't have asked for a better start and raced into a 2-0 lead but after reeling off five consecutive legs the former World Youth Champion seized the initiative and established a 6-4 lead at the break.
Chizzy resumed looking the stronger and restored parity and then took out 155 to lead. 8-7.
However, Humphries held his nerve and turned it around to take the win in a final-leg shootout.
After the game, he said: “I can’t put it into words at the moment because I always strive to do really well in darts, but when I arrived I never expected to be here..
“My heart was pounding and my hands were shaking because it means a lot to me.''
But after beating three-times world champion Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final, he couldn't clear the final hurdle at the Marshall Arena,Milton Keynes, losing 11-5 to 'The Machine' James Wade.
