Nine Saints youngsters have been given an opportunity to shine at international level.

Five have been drafted into the 36-man England Academy squad and four selected in a 35-strong youth set-up ahead of a Test series with the Australian High Schools and matches against France and Wales in 2014.

Adam Saunders, Dave Hewitt, Oliver Davies, Tom Calland and Matty Fleming have been named in the Academy squad and Carl Ceoghan, Chris Follin, Josh Ganson and Rob Fairclough feature in the U16s youth structure.

Derek Traynor, Saints’ Academy boss, said: “All the lads have worked hard and deserve their call up.”

England Youth and Academy team manager, Dave Elliott, said: “Putting the squads together was tough due to the high number of quality players coming through the system but there is still opportunities for others to play their way into contention.

“The door is far from closed.”
