COACH Nathan Brown says he is not afraid to pump new blood into Saints’ veins.
Already this season he has handed Super League debuts to Alex Walmsley, Mark Percival, Anthony Walker and Jordan Hand and there may be one or two more waiting the wing for a call-up.
“I love coaching kids,” admitted Brown. “We also have an excellent junior set up at the club with Derek Traynor, Steve Leonard and Ian Talbot helping to develop good young players.
“If they play well in the lower grades, they will be given a chance to prove their worth at senior level.
“Take Anthony Walker as an example.
“He has been showing impressive form and I wouldn’t hesitate in selecting him for a big game if it was tomorrow.”
Brown also declared himself well satisfied with Friday’s victory over Wakefield - Saints first on home soil after two defeats and draw - and a boost for the fans.
“It was just great to get the monkey off our back,” he declared.
