St Helens Sutton’s cross-country season is underway

The cross-country season started for St Helens Sutton AC with the first match of the season in the Manchester and District League at Stockport’s notorious Woodbank Park.

There was a good turnout of boys for the Under 13s event with Charlie Roberts leading the way with his run of 13.30 for 15th place. Michael Brussels was 20th in 14.04, Ben Toole 26th, 14.37, Liam Houghton 31st, 15.07 and Lewis Turner 32nd, 15.08 the team finishing sixth. Only two girls turned out in their corresponding race, Amber Escoffery ran 16.09 for 34th place and Alyx Bridge 16.48 for 41st.

Lucy Price and Chloe Orrick ran in the Under 15s. Girls event, Lucy finishing 40th in 22.57 and Chloe 42nd in 25.24. The Uner 17s Boys raised a team which took fifth place, Anthony Walker ran 25.21 for 18th spot, Joseph Walker 26.13, 19th and Leon Hill 29.06 for 23rd.

Maddie Williams was 14th in the 17-19s Ladies with her time of 40.55. Four senior men competed, Greg Williams finished 65th in 36.43 and Jamie White 79th in 37.50 secs. Two veteran men also completed the turnout, Ian Costello being 35th in his group running 40.13 and Ian Hayburn 34th in his group with a 40.53 run.
