Three of St Helens Sutton AC’s senior men took up the challenge of competing in the British Athletics Cross Challenge and England trial, held in Liverpool’s Sefton Park.

Steve Anders was the first to finish completing the 9.8km. parkland course in 37.57.

His finishing position of 219th was respectable in a field of well over 500 finishers.

Andrew Wilson was 243rd in 38.55 and Peter Johnson finished with a time of 51.46.

Senior lady, Louise Hogg, ran in the race despite having the option of a shorter ladies only race and recorded a time of 52.36.

Kevin Cunningham improved his best time for the half-marathon to 1.44.54 when competing in the Conwy event which starts on Conwy quayside in front of the medieval castle, proceeds along the road through to Deganwy beach/promenade and on to the west shore of the Victorian town of Llandudno and then passes the pier, followed by the tough bit, the Great Orme before returning to the west shore and retracing the route back to the finish on Conwy quayside.
