HUNDREDS of St Helens pupils took the chance to show off their sporting skills at the Sportshall athletics event.
Children from 16 local schools took part in a range of activities including relay races, standing long jump, standing triple jump, chest push and speed bounce.
The schools were very closely matched before Legh Vale and Bleak Hill finished the day in first and second place.
They will now go onto represent both their school and the borough in the Merseyside School Games Sportshall Athletics Final in March 2016.
School games organiser and sports development officer for St Helens Council, Damian Keegan said: “It was fantastic to see so many youngsters taking part and demonstrating high levels of skill.
“I would like to wish Legh Vale and Bleak Hill the best of luck in the final; I know they’ve got what it takes to be victorious.”
The event was officiated by Young Leaders from De La Salle School.
