PBs tumble for St Helens Sutton’s junior athletics team

There was an excellent turnout of St Helens Sutton Athletics Club junior members for the first Northern Youth Development League match of the season at Blackpool’s Stanley Park with 28 members competing.

Between them they amassed no less than 19 PBs. In the u13 years girls they were Rebecca Brown in 75m and 16.5 secs, Rebecca Houghton 150m in 23.5 secs, Lucy Price 1200m in four mins, 45.5 secs, Ellie Doyle and Harriet King 800m in three mins, 8.5 secs, and three mins, 11.7 secs.

For the U15yrs girls they were Abbie Roberts who won the 300m in 47.8 secs, Caitlin Young 200m 29.4 secs, Ellie Mawdsley 300m 50.5 secs and Freya Roberts 800m in two mins, 59.1 secs.

For u13s boys there were PBs for Alex Moore in the 100m and 200m with times of 14.4 secs and 29.3 secs both earning second places. Charlie Roberts 800m in two mins, 41.1 secs, for third, Jack Lowrie 800m in two mins, 47.6 secs and Matthew Slevin 1500m in five mins, 48.7 secs for third.

PBs for the u15s came for Daniel Lamb in the 100m and 200m with 12.7secs and 26.3secs both for second places, Ben Oldham also had a double with a 14.1 secs 100m and a 46.6 secs 300m (third). Peter Davies’s was in the 300m (49.7 secs), Anthony Walker in the 1500m in five min, 33.0 secs and Joseph Woods 800m in two mins, 47.4 secs.

Overall, an afternoon that provided good rewards for the work done by the runners over the last winter.
