The First Utility Super League’s two-day spectacular, Magic Weekend is breaking box office records with more than 10,000 tickets already snapped up for the event at St James’ Park, Newcastle, on May 30 and 31.
Just six days after tickets went on sale, the magical 10,000 barrier was passed on Saturday afternoon, a full six weeks before the same milestone was reached 12 months ago.
Magic Weekend sees a full round of six Super League fixtures played over two days at the home of Newcastle United and sports fans from the North East have been quick to embrace the unique sporting event.
Ticket demand for Magic Weekend has been running at a record level with 48 per cent of tickets purchased by people who have never attended a major Rugby League event before.
Super League Marketing Director Mark Foster said: “It’s fantastic that ticket sales have been going so well during the first week.
“It’s also very encouraging to see that 29 per cent of tickets have been purchased by people in the North East.
“The North East public are very passionate about their top quality sport and major events so it’s great to see how well they are taking to Magic Weekend.”
