Sutton Heath were crowned Premier division champions of the St Helens and District Combination after a thrilling final day title decider.
They faced rivals Bowling Green on a balmy Saturday afternoon in which conditions were perfect for football.
Heath opened the scoring Bate only for Fairhurst to level matters for Bowling Green. Bate and Fairhurst then repeated the trick, both adding second goals.
The final, pulsating 15 minutes were end to end football, but it was left to Gaz Smith to score the winner and hand his team the champions crown.
In Division Two, it was a tense day as two teams were in contention to take the crown as champions.
Sidac Social travelled to Waterside knowing a win would be enough to make them champions, a 0-3 win with goals by Sam Denton , Josh Hoult Tom Pilkington gave Sidac Social the Division Two Championship.
The end of seasons cup finals start on Friday, May 2 with the DH Griffith cup between last seasons finalists Bold Rangers and newly crowned Champions Sutton Heath.
Kick off is at 6.15pm with the game taking place at Sutton High Sports Centre.
