Crusaders away to Haydock CC achieved a score of 16 with full rounders from Lorna Brookes, Cheryl Duckworth (2), Nic Ericson, Olivia Jolley (3), Sue Smith (2) and Lynsey McHugh.

The opposition was held to just 1 and, after being forced to follow on, managed to increase their score to just 3 1/2.

But Crusaders then lost a crunch home match against Warriors.

Batting first, they were held to 3 1/2 with full rounders from Nic and Sue, who also scored a half, and other halves from Chloe Plunkett and Jen Graham.

In reply, Warriors raced away to 8 1⁄2 with two full rounders – one each from Victoria McDonald and Maria Hutton and halves from Jenny Jones, Cassie Moran, Jan Griffiths (5), Rebecca McDonald, Louise McDonald (3) and Maria and Yvonne Tinsley.

Despite a valiant attempt, Crusaders were dismissed with a total match score of 8.

Haydock’s second outing was to Clockface Miners to face Canterbury Belles where they fared better.

Batting first, they posted a challenging score of 14 with full rounders from Pattie Howell who also scored three halves, Caz Bentham (3); Gemma Hurst and Sharon Green (2).

Other halves were added by Gemma Nolan and Lucy Devereaux.

Haydock went on to win by 14:2 and an innings.
