Dave Chisnall’s dreams of qualifying for the Premer League darts play-offs were shattered on Thursday night after he suffered a double defeat.

The St Helens thrower lost 7-5 to bottom of the table Robert Thornton and was then eliminated from the competition after a crushing 7-2 defeat at the hands of 15-times world champion Phil Taylor.

Previously, despite hitting a remarkable five maximums, Dave Chisnall’s (pictured) was edged out 7-5 by five-times world champion Raymond van Barneveld in the second stage of the Betway Premier League Darts at Sheffield.

Not for the first time in the tournament, the St Helens ace had problems with his finishing and that is what ultimately ended his hopes of victory
