RISING star Michael Smith is set to make his debut at the darts PDC World Championship.
The 21-year-old will compete against Dutch thrower Co Stompe on Friday at Alexandra Palace in London.
Haydock Park Racecourse will sponsor the youngster throughout the tournament and beyond.
If he successfully comes through the opening round, his second match will be on 27 December.
During his short professional career, Michael has reached the last 32 of the UK Open in both 2010 and earlier this year.

“As a principal sporting venue in the borough of St Helens, we are delighted to be supporting a successful local sportsman who is associated with the town.
“In turn Michael’s exploits will help to promote what we offer at Haydock Park.”
The day after Michael Smith’s first round match, there is racing at Haydock Park. Saturday (December 17) is Maxilead Tommy Whittle Chase day.
Racing starts at 12.40pm and admission costs Premier £45; County Stand £30; Tattersalls £20; Newton Enclosure £12.
