ST Helens hardman Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook wants to cuddle Gareth Hock when the pair face off during tonight’s derby clash with Wigan.
Hock’s unprovoked headbutting of LMS sparked a mass brawl during the two side’s Magic weekend clash in May.
But the jovial Londoner isn’t one to hold grudges and laughed off suggestions there was any ill-feeling still lingering over the incident.
“We just went into a scrum and I think Gaz was tired,” grinned McCarthy-Scarsbrook.
“He wanted a bit of a rest so he started cuddling me. I was happy to oblige because I love a bit of a cuddle. It was just a bit of handbags anyway.
“Besides, I wasn’t doing anything. I was just tying up my laces. Having looked back at the video it was a bit harsh to send three off.”
Wigan finished that game with 11 men but still won comfortably, making it three wins over Saints this season.
And with the league leaders trophy already in the bag, Saints are determined to spoil tonight’s party atmosphere at the DW Stadium.
LMS said: “It will be a really intense game and I am sure there will be some niggles here and there. But surely this face is too pretty to be hit.”
The prop forward also praised the impact of coaching duo Mike Rush and Keiron Cunningham.
“I think we were in 10th place when ‘Rushie’ (Mike Rush) and ‘Kez’ (Keiron Cunningham) took over.
“So to finish third would be a real achievement.
“But you don’t really want to go back to Wigan or Warrington.”
