Salford owner Marwan Koukash has vowed to clear his club’s name over alleged salary-cap irregularities.
Bradford chairman Marc Green has raised questions over the Red Devils’ use of the cap over the last two years and in particular their signing of Tony Puletua from St Helens.
In a letter leaked to the League Express newspaper, Green claims he was prevented from raising his concerns at a Rugby Football League Council meeting in December and calls on the governing body to fully investigate the transfer of Puletua.
Koukash was unavailable for comment but said on his Twitter account: “Since early October, we have been fully co-operating with the RFL investigators and will continue to do so to clear our name.”
An RFL spokesman said: “There are around 150 investigations conducted by the RFL every year and, as is just and proper, we do not comment on any of them until we have decided to charge an individual or club.”
There have been eight cases of points deductions for salary-cap breaches but none sine 2007 following the introduction of a “live” cap which is monitored by a salary cap manager appointed by Super League.
