SAINTS’ on-loan winger Jamie Foster made a sparkling debut for Hull FC in the Humberside derby on Monday night.
Foster landed six goals to help demolish the Robins 32-18 in front of 9,000-strong Craven Park crowd, and earned post-match praise from Airlie Birds’ coach Peter Gentle.
Gentle said: “There was a little bit of class about Foster, and he is pretty handy turning four points into six when we cross the line.
“He sees this short loan spell as an opportunity.
“He has had to bide his time at Saints this season, and we were fortunate enough to offer him a month’s deal.
“I’d like it to be longer, but we’ll just have to see how it goes.”
Foster, however, didn’t make an auspicious start on a ground where he kicked last-gasp penalty to earn Saints a 36-36 draw in February.
He put the ball into touch from the kick-off, but quickly redeemed himself by bundling Rovers winger David Hodgson into touch to save a try, and then grew in confidence and stature by the minute.
