Matty Fleming could make his first appearance of the season after being named in Saints’ initial 19-man squad for Friday night’s home game against Hull KR.
Fleming, equally at home on the wing or in the centre, featured in seven matches last season, making his debut against the Leeds Rhinos at Langtree Park on April 17.
Dominique Peyroux returns to the squad but injuries rule out half backs Theo Fages and Luke Walsh, while there is no place for Matty Dawson.
Walsh is not expected to be missing much longer but Fages, who suffered a knee injury against the Catalans Dragons on Saturday, could be ruled out indefinitely.
Coach Keiron Cunningham said: “Theo has a knee problem and it doesn’t look too good.
“We still have some tests to carry out but I don’t think he will be back in the distant future. It’s hard for him because he is a little warrior and gives everything every single week.
“He will bounce back as he is a durable character and doesn’t normally pick up too many injuries.
“When he is hurt, he normally heals quickly, though, so fingers crossed we will get him back soon enough.
“Injuries are part of sport and we have just to carry on.
“Walshy isn’t far off and when he does return he will come in and help the situation, but first of all he has to pass certain criteria.”
Cunningham will select his 17 from:
1. Jonny Lomax, 3. Jordan Turner, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Adam Swift, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 10. Kyle Amor, 11. Atelea Vea, 12. Jon Wilkin, 13. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, 14. Lama Tasi, 15. Greg Richards, 17. Luke Thompson, 18. Dominique Peyroux, 20. Joe Greenwood, 22. Jack Owens, 23. Shannon McDonnell, 24. Matty Fleming, 28. Morgan Knowles.
Jake Webster will choose his Hull KR 17 from:
4. Iain Thornley, 5. Kieran Dixon, 7. Albert Kelly, 8. Adam Walker, 9. Shaun Lunt, 10. Mitch Allgood, 11. Maurice Blair, 12. Graeme Horne, 13. Chris Clarkson, 15. James Donaldson, 16. James Green, 17. Dane Tilse, 18. Ben Cockayne, 20. James Greenwood, 21. Thomas Minns, 22. Matty Marsh, 24. George Lawler, 26. Robbie Mulhern, 29. Joe Wardill.
The game kicks off at 8pm and the referee is J Smith.
