Keiron Cunningham had nothing but admiration for his team defensive resilience but was less than impressed with the referee’s decision making.
Saints head coach got a win under his belt at the first time of asking with a 18-7 win over Catalans but had strong words for the officials.
“I’m not sure it was the prettiest game to watch,” he said.
“The most disappointing thing for me is that the fans have waited so long for the season to start and after two TV games all people are talking about are the referees’ decision.
“We just want to play rugby league.
“I admire the resilience and effort in everything we did defensively.
“We hung in there and made 30 tackles in a row at one point.
“Our skill was a little bit off and we looked a bit nervous but when we got into our rhythm, we looked undefendable.”
