Nathan Brown has revealed that medics are struggling to get to the bottom of frustrated Saints prop Richard Beaumont’s groin injury.
The 26-year-old (pictured), signed in the close season from his boyhood club Hull KR, is yet to make his Saints debut due to an indefinite spell on the sidelines.
Brown said: “Rich is really struggling with a groin issue at the moment. He’s been over to Ireland once so far to see a specialist but it’s hard to make any prediction on him at the moment. Things definitely aren’t going as well as he would like or we would like though.
“We’ve just got to keep working away to see if we can get to the bottom of it. It’s been unfortunate - he hasn’t had much luck.
“We didn’t mind him missing a little bit at the start of the year but wwe anted him to be playing now. This is the time of year when you want everyone playing.
“Rich had a good year last year for Hull KR and we had really big hopes for him but just getting better and getting playing again is the key for him now. There’s definitely no time frames on him at the moment.”
Speaking before the start of the season, Beaumont, who stands 6ft 3ins tall and weighs in at 16-plus stone, told of his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside fellow giants Kyle Amor, Alex Walmsley and Mose Masoe.
He said: “I can’t see a team in Super League that’s got a bigger pack than us and I can see us being pretty tough for anyone to face.
“I was just doing some shopping in Asda when I got a call from an agent saying there was a team interested in signing me! They didn’t tell me too much at first but when I found out it was Saints I was quite overwhelmed. They’re a massive club - one of the best.”
in the country.
“It was tough to leave Hull KR because I’m a Hull lad and I’d been there all my life but, the more I thought about it, the easier the decision was. I asked Scott Taylor what he thought and he just told me it was too good an opportunity to turn down.”
