SHAUN Woodward MP has criticised Chancellor George Osborne for sticking to his guns with his economic policy.
The MP for St Helens South and Whiston said the Chancellor’s autumn statement offered little hope for struggling families in St Helens.
Mr Woodward said: “People across St Helens know the Government’s economic plan is hurting. It’s not working. Families are paying three times as much as the banks for the financial crisis. The Government’s policies have harmed families and businesses across St Helens and the Chancellor’s announcements offer little hope.
“St Helens has an increasing rate of young people out of education, employment and training. And the Government’s youth contract, offering subsidised work placements, is far too little too late.
“The Government should urgently change course before more people in St Helens and across the country are made to feel more pain.”
