Women fined for perfume theft

A WOMAN caught stealing two bottles of perfume from a town centre store has been handed a community order.

Leanne Stockley, 23, was spotted snaffling two bottles of Chanel perfume from Boots - worth £108 - by plain clothes police officers on August 19.

She was arrested when she tried to run off after activating the store alarm.

When Stockley was arrested she claimed that her boyfriend had put her up to it and said she just wanted to go home to see her kids.

Graham Simpson, defending, asked for any financial penalties against his client to be deducted from his Stockley’s benefits.

Magistrates handed Stockley, of Eccleston Street, a nine-month community order in which she must complete a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement.

They also ordered her to pay £85 towards court costs.
