Detectives in St Helens have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a woman was assaulted in St Helens town centre.

The incident happened at around 3am on Friday, 7 August on Westfield Street.

It is believed the victim had been assaulted by a woman, resulting in her being knocked to the ground.

While the victim was on the floor a man has then approached her and stamped on her head.

Detectives have explored CCTV opportunities and it is believed a number of people may have been in the area at the time and may have witnessed the assault.

Thankfully the victim wasn’t badly hurt but we are keen to speak to the man in the photograph as we believe he may be able to help with our enquiries.

“We would also appeal to anyone who was in the area of Westfield Street in the early hours of Friday 7 August and may have information about this incident to contact us.”
