WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31: Join in the family fun at Parr Library at 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm for a host of games and activities featuring TV’s favourite Fireman Sam. There will be books, CDs, DVDs, colouring pages, badge making and much more. Admission is free.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3: The annual Rainford Show will be held at Rainford Village Hall, Church Road, Rainford, between 1.30am and 4.30pm. The show schedule is available from Rainford Library or by calling 01744 883148.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7: The next meeting of the St Helens and District Group of Diabetes UK will be at 7.30pm in St Helens Town Hall. The speaker will be Sue Michaels, who will be talking to us about ‘In-Patient Care for people with Diabetes’.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8: The next meeting of the St Helens Epilepsy Support group will be at Peasley Cross United Reform Church, Beaufort Street, from 7pm.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17: St. Helens Sinfonietta presents Gran Partita a concert of music for wind ensemble including Mozart Serenade No. 10 for 13 instruments. The concert is at 7.30pm at St Helens United Reformed Church. Tickets are £10 for adults, half price for students and £1 for under 16s. Tickets from 01744 600846, 01925 291273 or at the door.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30: The True Blues Club presents Junkhouse Dog and Crossfire. The club is based at Earlestown Conservative Club, Earle Street, Newton, and tickets are available on the door.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1: Haydock Male Voice Choir will present a Grand Concert at St Helens Town Hall from 7.30pm. Guest artistes will be ladies barbershop quartet Miss-Demeanour. Tickets price £10 are available from secretary Alan Gaskell on 01744-734176, any choir member, or pay at the door.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11: The Royal Shakespeare Company comes to De La Salle school performing a production of Hamlet. The production is about 70 minutes in length, with the opportunity to meet the company afterwards and ask questions about their performance.
