A campaign has been launched to tackle growing numbers of obesity in St Helens.
The scheme will see health professionals working in partnership to help overweight people shed the pounds.
ABL Health, which carries out weight management services on behalf of St Helens Council, hosted the event at Langtree Park.
Attendees learned more about the organisation, which offers free exercise and nutrition sessions to adults and families in the area.
The event also saw the launch of ABL Health’s Healthy Weight Champions scheme, which trains health professionals in raising the sensitive issue of weight with patients and referring on to appropriate services.
Dr Sheena Bedi, Chief Executive of ABL Health, said: “It is really important that health organisations work together to tackle the issue of obesity, which can have such an impact on people’s lives and cause other serious illnesses like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
“By sharing our expertise with colleagues from other health organisations, we aim to make a positive difference to the lives of more people and begin to turn around the worrying obesity trends.”
