Detectives have released CCTV stills of a man they are hunting over the theft of a diamond ring from a jewellers in St Helens.

A man entered the H Samuel in Palantine Arcade in the town centre at around 1.50pm on Friday, April 8, and asked to see a diamond ring.

When the sales assistant took out a ring for the man to look at he took the ring and ran out of the shop.

A police spokesman said: “The ring that was stolen was a Forever Diamond platinum 3/4 carat diamond ring.

“An investigation is ongoing and CCTV and forensic opportunities have been explored.

“Merseyside Police has now issued a CCTV image of a man they believe could help them with their enquiries.

“Anyone who recognises the man, or the man himself, is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6813 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.”
