Volunteers are wanted to help out at this year’s Cancer Research UK Race For Life in St Helens.
As the countdown starts to the 5k event, sponsored by Tesco, on Saturday July 12, men and women are being urged to join the charge at Haydock Park to help make 2015 the best year yet.
Jennifer Ward, Cancer Research UK event manager for St Helens, said: “The atmosphere at our Race for Life events is electric and a big part of that is down to our fantastic army of volunteers.
“Race for Life is a women-only event but anyone can play their part as a volunteer - men and women of all ages and abilities. Volunteers don’t need to know anyone who is taking part in Race for Life. By simply joining the volunteer squad they will be doing their bit to help us beat cancer sooner.”
Prior to the event, volunteers are needed to help spread the word about Race for Life by distributing leaflets and posters and taking part in promotional activities.
On event day, they are needed to help with a wide range of tasks from marshalling to managing the information marquee to handing out medals.
Volunteers will gain practical, hands-on experience, working with people from all walks of life while helping to make a real difference in the fight against all cancers.
Cancer Research UK staff will brief, guide and support volunteers. Everyone who signs up to help at the event will receive a special t-shirt to wear on the day.

Meanwhile, there is one last push for mums, nans, sisters, aunts and friends to sign up to the 5k and 10k events before registration closes next month.
Organisers hope to raise millions of pounds to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
