TWO teenagers have been charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was stabbed in Haydock.

The pair, both aged 16 and from Huyton and Stockbridge Village, have also been charged with a section 18 wounding.

They are due to appear at St Helens Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.

A 19-year-old man from Haydock has been released without charge following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

All three teenagers were held by police after 39-year-old Sean Glover suffered knife wounds in a serious early morning assault.

Detectives arrested the three suspects on Monday morning (February 28) after the victim sustained “serious injuries” in an assault on Clipsley Lane in Haydock.

Police were called to the scene, between the road’s junctions with Haydock Lane and Poplar Road, at about 5.40am that morning.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the assault victim had been discharged from hospital to recover at home after suffering gashes to his face and hand, consistent with knife wounds.

But busy Clipsley Lane was due to be cordoned off again by police yesterday afternoon – after it was closed off for several hours on Monday – for a detailed police line-search.

Forensic teams had earlier been spotted working at the scene well into Monday afternoon.
